Today’s Highlights:
– Weather report was horrific (thunderstorms, hail, tornadoes, damaging winds). We went anyway. It was windy and overcast and looked like it *might* rain for a good part of the day… but it didn’t. Then around 4:30 the sun came out… and that was that.
– Muddy field from yesterday’s big rain = wellingtons… the best Jazz Fest attire, ever.
– Hooked up with the front row pass for part of Simon & Garfunkel… awesome! Thanks, Chrissie, Cade & family!
– Having friends around take the whole already amazing Jazz Fest experience to a whole new level.
UPDATES:
— Jazz Fest Wellingtons, an awesome assortment, here.
— Art Garfunkel had laryngitis. It made for a slow start to their set; things picked up with Paul Simon played a few solo (Diamonds on the Soles of her Shoes, etc.) Then, they did Bridge Over Troubled Water. Poor Art struggled hard, and then, right around the “I’m on your side, when times get rough…” Paul walked over and put a hand on his shoulder. They finished the song together and stood, with hands clasped, to the applause at the end.
Pictures are by Paul and me…

I love it when you share New Orleans with us. I just have to make a trip there!! Glad the weather held out for you Saturday even though you had to deal with the mud from the day before it looked like you still had a nice time!!!

I MUST have the fleur de lis boots!!!! Love them!
Ooh, up front for Simon and Garfunkel . . . I’m definitely jealous! I was wondering how the festival faired with the weather yesterday. It completely missed us at Festival International. So glad Jazz fest is two weekends, so as soon as the kids can handle a whole day out there (our oldest has severe noise and crowd issues, so she just lasts an hour or so) we’re going to make it out for the second weekend.

I see Tab’s mom came out to play.
i called off the babysitter on Friday, and decided to go Sunday instead, and am still totally kicking myself. Sunday was lovely and all, but Saturday’s lineup was kicker. My hubby and some friends still went, and can’t stop talking about it.

Wow–I didn’t even know Simon & Garfunkel ever played together anymore. That would be so amazing to see them. Sounds like it was a great day.

I have never been to Jazz Fest. Definitely have to do that one day.
