Aftermath. That’s the Photohunt theme for this week. Do I have pictures of aftermath? Does the Pope wear a funny hat?
I thought about just skipping the week all together. I’m not really in the mood to think about aftermath. But here’s one. Of many.
Also, I’m linking to pictures, and more, of aftermath. They just scratch the surface.
Both the ugly.
And the recovery.

I was shocked when Katrina happened and I was even more shocked when the Administration chose to do nothing for days!
btw, my aftermath was taken in the South West of Western Australia near a place called “Toodyay” – its on google earth 🙂

In the aftermath of Katrina, I take it? How IS New Orleans? Hope it’s doing better than a lot of people predicted that it would in the immediate aftermath.

I’m so sorry for your losses from Katrina…I can imagine that word has a far different meaning to you now-a-days.

Thank you for visiting my photo hunt and the nice comments. I don’t know why my first thought was disaster. I discovered this week that aftermath also means the second cutting of hay. Who knew?
I watched helpless, as did most Americans, as the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina unfolded and the levies betrayed the people of New Orleans. It was unbelievable that nothing was being done. Everyone was told to sit back and let FEMA handle it and then to watch the TV and see that nothing was reaching those in need.
I know that there are vast areas along the coast that are not restored. It’s sad that it is taking so long.

It’s a tad ironic (a tad being somewhere between a rock and a hard place) that I opened your post immediately after watching Rachel Maddow’s piece on the failures of the Bush Administration in its response to Katrina, and his emphatic denial that the federal response was slow.
Jeesh! It’s become a mantra: 8 days to go… 7 days to go…
