The Stats:
– 1 call to babysitter (our hermanita, Michelle) since Kate was asleep.
– 1 quick visit to Med School neighbor for a professional opinion.
– Just under 4 hours at Children’s Hospital.
– Zero stitches, one big tube of glue.
– 15 minutes of holding and maneuvering (fatty tissue was problematic).
– 2 minutes on the exam table before he fell asleep during the wound cleaning.
– 1-2 day follow-up with PCP.
– 1 bet that after 1 year, the scar won’t be visible.
– 2 very tired parents.
– 8:30am. Time we’re suppose to be on the 9th floor of Oschner for Paul’s post-op visit tomorrow.

This sounds like me at his age. On the positive side I now have a scar to complete the Harry Potter costume at my hairline.

He’s officially a boy. You’re required to test your ability to fly by the age of 5 to keep your Y-chromosome privileges current.
As for me, I jumped out of a second story window in my house when I was five-ish and landed on the lawn. Explains a lot, doesn’t it?

Chris: Remind me that the next time I see your Mom, I am buying her a seriously stiff drink. Oye.

Hehehe,
As if by magic I had no stitches until the age of five. Grandma insisted I had a really busy guardian angel. That streak of luck ended back when they made Prell bottles out of glass. I was entrusted to use it alone. It fell in, broke, and got me on the shin. Four stitches! Lots of trauma, but I “became a man” by the time I had to get the stiches pulled out. Hehehe.
