Regular dishes on life in New Orleans, historic home renovation, raising kids, completing a PhD, travel near and far, global concerns, and health issues.
You know the story, right? International health... work all over the place... drag my kids around in sacks through villages in Central America... yadda yadda. I decided to go for another degree, so in 2004 we moved to New Orleans with no intention of staying. Then Katrina. And then *blink*blink* New Orleans is a completely different place and we just can't leave. Suddenly I'm on TV talking about immigrants and health and Paul is starting a company. Or two. His side is high-tech, mine is community health and our lives are yearly evacuation, regular celebrations, and nonstop work here, there, and everywhere. Our door is always open. I only ask that if you decide to go ahead and make yourself that mint julep, you make one for me, too.
We strive to make our life our argument.

Little Holly’s a real cutie. You may have a demonstrative thespian on your hands.

She is a really cutie, not that I’m biased or anything. Melt you heart in a parsec, that one.
As for the household thespian, The Boy may be the current contender, with his non-stop operatic singing.

Delurking to comment … Kate’s expressions are just priceless! 🙂 I’ve been enjoying your blog off and on over the past year. I remember the post about Kate where you were wondering about her appetite/body growth — have you ever had her tested for Celiac disease? Just a thought. I wish you & yours nothing but happiness and great health!

Thanks, Anon! Kate had a sudden and dramatic weight gain before her 15 month appointment (a little over a month ago), otherwise, we were going to start exploring food allergies (like Celiac — which, frankly, it was really looking like!) She has her next weigh-in tomorrow and based on how good she looks now, we are expecting to see a similar increase in weight. (If not, we may start to explore the allergy thing a bit more.)
