How can I repel thee?

Thirty minutes of yard work yesterday afternoon = 15 mosquito bites on my ankles and feet.

I’m contemplating a propane-powered mosquito repellent. Then, today, I read about this on the NOLA forums. I’m having a hard time tracking down where to buy them, though. (Found some seeds on ebay, but I’d like to find an established plant.) If they work, I may just give it all up and become a beautybush grower.

9 Week Facts

Kate is 9 weeks old. Two minutes after I took this picture, Kate had scooted herself up to the blocks and knocked them all over with her hands and head. The covers for three of the four chair/swing/bouncey devices we have in the house are currently in the wash. That is because Kate has (ahem) overflowed on them all in the past 24-hours.
Kate has had two baths in the past 12 hours. Reason? See above.
Kate is loosing her hair. We are not sure what color it will be when it grows back. Current nicknames for Kate include: Baby Kate, Baby Cakes, Squirmy, Super-Pooper, and Chunk. Oh — and I almost forgot — ROCK STAR!

Mystery Presents!

We’ve received two anonymous gifts — can anyone help I identify the gifters??

One is a great thermometer we got months ago — before Kate was born.

The other is a keepsake box that we got in the mail today.

Thank you, mystery people! I hope I can formally thank you soon!

Injection Connection?

Kate has not been a Happy Camper the last two days. In fact, the past two days have been the most Un-happy Camper days we’ve had yet. Maybe there is a diaper issue? Yesterday she went almost the whole day without a poop… very uncommon for our dozen-a-day Super Pooper. Yet tonight, over the past 3 hours, we’ve had at least 5… making today’s total somewhere close to the double digits. She definitely seems more gassy. But I’m wondering if maybe her shots yesterday are still bothering her? See the welt on her left leg? That’s the injection site… swollen and red. Posted by Picasa

Whoa

Will peeks in the study to check out all the commotion. Paul continued on the shelves tonight. Among other things, he put the door frame back in, banging loud and hard enough for several of our neighbors to stop by and ask why we were lighting fireworks off inside the house. Seeing Will in the picture gives some better perspective on how big the shelf is, how much it weighed, and how high our ceilings really are (they go up several feet beyond the top of the shelf). Whoa. Posted by Picasa

Will Sings

I’ve broken down and registered with YouTube.

My brother has a camera that allows for short (15 seconds) video clips to be recorded. When I download his pictures into Picasa, it also takes the video. I’ve been wanting to post video for awhile, so using YouTube seemed to make sense.

Below are two clips of Will singing “I’d Do Anything” with my parents. You can also see them here (first part) and here (second part).

Bedtime Reading

One Monster After Another (One of my childhood favorites. The pictures are outstanding and saying the names is a lot of fun.)
Backbeard and The Birthday Suit (Backbeard is the world’s hairiest pirate. In this book, he has a fashion crisis.)
Barnyard Dance (Reads like a song!)
Go Away, Big Green Monster! (Will loves to read this one to himself. The monster “goes away” page by page.)

Poundage

Will
Height: 37.1 inches (75%)
Weight: 30.2 pounds (50%)

Kate
Height: 23 inches (75% – likely a little high due to squirming during measurement)
Weight: 12 pounds, 9 ounces (90%)
Head circumference: 40 cm (75-90%)

In the past two weeks, Kate has gained over a pound and grown an inch. (!!!)
