Will’s 2nd birthday is approaching (November 21st). We had originally thought to hold a small party at the Zoo (you can rent the carousel and surrounding area for 90 minutes for kids’ parties with rides). But, since the Zoo is not open, we’re having to rethink.
Problems:
– Our house is very small.
– While we have a nice backyard, it’s a mess. Even if it is clean, it won’t be fenced. Even if our fence is fixed, there is no way our neighbor’s fence (which is fallen over to expose their totally gross green-algae-mosquito-breeding-pool) will be fixed.
– The party will be mostly an adult party with a few playmates for Will. (Unless we asked his class to come, in which case, there would be even more adults and about 6 more kids.)
Anyone have ideas?

Holly-The BIG thing in our area for parties is Soccer Tots. Our local field house where I play soccer and field hockey is part of this national program. The kids always seem to be having a good time when I see them – and I know a 2 year old who participates in their classes. Not sure if it’s close to you or even open, but there is a program in NOLA. Check out http://ybnow.com/site/SoccerTots/Tour/index.jsp. Just a thought…Wish I could be there, Aunt Amy

No Chuckie Cheese? Just joking. I hated those things as a kid, I’m sure they’d be even worse as an adult.
Googled up something:

That might be what you were looking at – looks pretty expensive.
Ask around where Will goes to school?
Maybe a riverboat cruise?

Looks like kids under 6 are free!
Is there a neat factory in the area that you could visit? He might be a bit young, but Krispy Kreme does tours of their facilities for scouts, what about some other factory in the area – how about that place that makes fried pies?
Just some ideas!

Thanks, great ideas!
So much is closed right now that unfortunately we don’t have many options. I wish I could just fence off the street from traffic and have a cook-out on the street. (Of course, the sink hole on our street would probably prohibit this for safety reasons!) We’re thinking that Paul and folks from his juggling club could juggle/unicycle and maybe we could get a neighbor to do face painting. I could make a bunch of different colors of play-dough on a low table with kitchen utensils and let the kids play at the tables and run around. What we need is a big open space close to home, good weather (that one is pretty likely, we’re lucky for that!), and folks that will help out. I think space might be the biggest issue….? Hmmmmmm….?
