I’m desperate. Who has suggestions on dealing with nausea? It’s 24-7, not just the morning, includes that awful metalic taste, and I’m miserable.

Regular dishes on life in New Orleans, historic home renovation, raising kids, completing a PhD, travel near and far, global concerns, and health issues.
You know the story, right? International health... work all over the place... drag my kids around in sacks through villages in Central America... yadda yadda. I decided to go for another degree, so in 2004 we moved to New Orleans with no intention of staying. Then Katrina. And then *blink*blink* New Orleans is a completely different place and we just can't leave. Suddenly I'm on TV talking about immigrants and health and Paul is starting a company. Or two. His side is high-tech, mine is community health and our lives are yearly evacuation, regular celebrations, and nonstop work here, there, and everywhere. Our door is always open. I only ask that if you decide to go ahead and make yourself that mint julep, you make one for me, too.
We strive to make our life our argument.

Peanut butter and gatorade. (I know this sounds strange, but try it — the protein in the peanut butter and the electrolytes in the gatorade seem to work together to help.)
I’m glad to hear that Michigan is working with you — good luck with the continued recovery.

My pregnant friend was advised to drink Gatorade too. I’ve heard ginger does wonders. Ginger ale, ginger tea, candied ginger, anything ginger. Peanut butter probably isn’t a bad thing either – you are at least getting some nutrients before you yak it up.

Peppermint tea seems to be best these days. I’m working up to ginger… I am *not* a big fan of straight ginger (so ginger tea is not my fave) but at this point, would swallow bubotuber pus if I thought it’d help.

I heard jelly beans help. 🙂 I have no idea why nor can I tell you why I remember this little tid bit from hearing it many years ago on some talk show. “Kate and Matty” I think – some L.A. show no longer on tv. Anyway – let me know if you try it and if it works. 🙂
