After dinner last night, we walked up to the local video store to choose a few movies for the weekend*. The three of us had just enjoyed a great walk and were stepping into the wonderfully cool inside air, when we were confronted with the smiling faces of Greg, Murray, Anthony, and Jeff. (Cue creepy Psycho-esque music.)
Yes: we were looking at The Wiggles. And yes, the poster was advertising a concert, coming soon to a venue near us. Paul and I groaned as Will gleefully called out to them and began pointing and jabbering. “Come on, Will, let’s go look at the movies inside!” we said. No avail. Paul worked on distraction while I quickly picked out three** and we got the heck out.
So now, the question: Do we take our kid to the Wiggles next weekend?
* It is important to appreciate the magnitude of this statement. Renting movies is a Big Deal to parents. This is the second time we’ve rented a movie in well over a year.

Did you know The Wiggles are the highest paid Australians? I believe that statement is correct. Googled it up –
The Wiggles are Australia’s richest entertainers. In 2004, they generated more than $45 million in revenue.

Does that help you make a decision? Never watched them, so I don’t know what they sing/dance (whatever else they may do) that is so entrancing?

Yeah, we have learned a lot about the Wiggles over the past year. It’s what parents talk about: the dirt we have on our children’s entertainers.
Combined, they are worth more than any other celebrity Aussie… including Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe.
Scary isn’t it?
