Cold Spaghetti

Who does Will most resemble in this picture? We’re not sure. But our best guesses are: Professor Trelawney (Hogwart’s Divinations teacher), U2’s Adam Clayton, or Milo from Bloom County.

In honor of our first date in a long time (we got a babysitter and saw the third Star Wars movie on Friday night)… I’ve rated myself on the Force-O-Meter.

This morning, Will became very upset when Paul explained to him that cookies were not acceptable breakfast food.

Will is now remembering, recognizing, and asking for food. It’s not uncommon for him to ask for apples, a drink, beans, peas, etc., but usually he only asks for things he can see and that are out around him. Apparently, cookies were added to that list.

I’m both flattered that my cookies are so memorable to him that he would ask for them and distressed that we now have to be mildful of hiding all treats from the eyes of our precocious kid!

We love our cabinet so much I had to put up another picture. (Ignore unsightly electrical cord. Ugh.)

Paul tempts the fates and practices juggling *pins* in the living room, a new pre-bedtime habit. (Note danger of low hanging ceiling fans and conspicuous absence of cats from the room — even they learned to get out of dodge, quickly!)

Helpful tip we’ve recently learned.

Homeowners in New Orleans are advised to turn off evening porch lights in the months of June and July. Porch lights attract swarming termites, which apparently are quite active in the area during these months.

Yikes.

Bulgar Wheat!

Current recipe of choice:

– cook bulgar wheat to 1:1.5 ratio (1 cup bulgar wheat to 1.5 cups water)
– saute diced onion (with pinch of sugar) and garlic until soft
– add drained kidney beans
– add parsley, basil, (maybe a teaspoon of those) and thyme (less than teaspoon)
– add diced tomatoes
– cook for a few minutes
– add cooked bulgar wheat

My new favorite meal! (Will loves it, too!)

Doesn’t he look like Professor Quirrell? I keep thinking the frog’s eyes are Voldemort…

Will plays with the ball that initially went in the frog (before his head took residence, that is.)

Steps to this picture:
1. Will took the bumble ball (ball that makes lots of funny noises) out of the frog.
2. Paul put the frog on Will’s head.
3. Will played, undetered, for a full 30 minutes with the frog on his head.
